SIMON ROBINSON’S run of form has continued in the opening round at The 2005 Oakley International, with the 24-year-old shooting a 64 at Morley Hayes on Wednesday morning.
Robinson gained his maiden PGA EuroPro Tour victory at the Swallow Suffolk Open last week, and took the early lead during the first round in Derbyshire.
The Hartlepool youngster was just one shot short of equalling the Morley Hayes course record, but holds a slender advantage after his first round.
“I’m feeling very comfortable now on the PGA EuroPro Tour and that’s helping my game,” said Robinson.
“I’m happy with the playing environment, I know the other players and officials and I’m also aware of the standard required to be successful.
“When I first started playing it took some getting used to but I’m relaxed and enjoying playing.”
Local lad Ian Whalley is a shot behind Robinson at -7, while Grant Hamerton also shot 65 on his return from two years away from competitive golf.
A full round-up will be issued at the close of the opening round.
